We know the state of the public accounts. Or better, we don’t know, but what we’re told is that everything is very bad, that the crisis is out there … And what we mean by crisis is: monetary, financial, economic, banking. Because it’s all that’s spoken, and that’s all we care: money.
Today I noticed a small new on Expresso online, referring to the restructuring of media’s public service by what they call Working Group. In addition to the proposed cuts in some other channels and fusion, they also state:
«Regarding to the illegitimate intervention or ethically objectionable of the different powers in information in radio, TV and agency of the state, regarding to the inability of the model of control by Parliament, and still regarding to the failure of the current regulatory model, the WG [Working Group ] proposes that the news content of the public operator of radio and television news programs be concentrated in short, be limited to the essential and recover the truly informative character, free from the growing subjective and opinionated dimension in journalism (up to make a difference compared to private operators)”»
It seems that among the cuts suggested there is still some room for concerns about the values passed by the public service. And if I for a long time feel indignated eith the sensacionalism and “bad education” that the Portuguese generalist channels offer, in part I was pleased with this news. Moreover, from what I’ve heard, ending with commercial advertising is also a possibility. But is it really? We shall wait to see… but I’m not very confident.

Bem sabemos o estado em que as contas públicas andam. Ou melhor, não sabemos, mas aquilo que nos dizem é que está tudo muito mal, que a crise anda por aí… E por crise entenda-se: monetária, financeira, económica, da banca. Porque é só nisso que se fala, e é só isso que nos interessa: dinheiro.
Hoje reparei numa pequena notícia do Expresso online, referente à reestruturação do serviço público de comunicação social pelo que designam de Grupo de Trabalho. Além das propostas de cortes em alguns canais e fusão de outros, afirmam ainda:
«”Face à intervenção ilegítima ou eticamente reprovável dos diferentes poderes na informação da rádio, TV e agência do Estado; face à incapacidade do modelo de controlo pelo Parlamento; e face ainda ao falhanço do atual modelo de regulação, o GT [Grupo de Trabalho] propõe que os conteúdos noticiosos do operador de serviço público de rádio e televisão sejam concentrados em noticiários curtos, sejam limitados ao essencial e recuperem o carácter verdadeiramente informativo, libertos da crescente dimensão subjetiva e opinativa no jornalismo (até para fazer diferença face aos operadores privados)”»
Parece que entre os cortes sugeridos ainda há espaço para alguma preocupação com os valores transmitidos pelo serviço público. E se há muito que me indigno com o sensacionalismo e a “má educação” que os canais generalistas portugueses oferecem, em parte fiquei satisfeito com esta notícia. Além disso, e pelo que ouvi dizer, fala-se também em acabar com a publicidade comercial. Será mesmo? A ver vamos… mas não estou muito confiante.
